A Judge has granted a court application allowing a man who is barred from having contact with his partner to attend the birth of their child.
The application was made by the man’s pregnant partner at a court in Co Donegal today.
The woman made the application as part of cases being dealt with under a list of Family Law matters at the court.
The court was told that the woman was seeking to have her partner’s barring order varied by consent.
The Judge in the case was told that the woman is due to have the child at a future date at Letterkenny University Hospital.
The pregnant woman, who was present in court, applied through her solicitor to allow her partner to attend the birth.
No specific time details of the lifting of the barring order was given in court.
The Judge asked if there was a date for the birth but this was not given.
The Judge said she would make an order allowing the application “in accordance with hospital procedures.”
The solicitor in the case representing the man told the court that when originally arrested, a condition of his bail was that he resided outside Donegal.
The Judge said that an application could be made down the line to vary the bail so as to allow the application.
When leaving the court the Judge addressed the woman saying “Good luck with everything.”
