A man has pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing harm to his former partner.
Karl Lydon appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.
The 34-year-old was arraigned before Judge John Aylmer and pleaded guilty to both charges.
He was charged that on April 16th, 2022, at an unknown address, he did assault his former partner causing her harm.
He was also charged that on April 16th, 2022, at a time other than in count one also at an unknown location, did assault the same woman causing her harm.
No details of the incidents were given in court.
Lydon is currently in custody on other charges.
Barrister for the State, Ms Fiona Crawford, BL, said the prosecution were entering a ‘nolle prosequi’ on the third charge against Lydon which means they will not be pursuing the matter.
Meanwhile, a fourth charge was taken into consideration by the court.
The court was told by Lydon’s barrister that a Probation Report had been ordered on another matter but an updated report would be helpful.
He said his client was under counselling while in prison and a report on this, as well as an education report from prison and a urine analysis would also be required.
Judge Aylmer agreed and ordered an updated Probation Report as well as a report from the prison counsellor.
The finalisation of sentencing was adjourned to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
