A man charged with head-butting a Garda and spitting blood on his face at a Buncrana hotel has been returned for trial.
Rodney Bonnes has been in custody since his arrest on June 12, 2024.
A book of evidence was served on the accused, a 39-year-old with an address at Kinsale Park in Derry.
Bonnes appeared via video link from Castlerea Prison.
Garda Pauline Doherty gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on Mr Rory O’Brien, solicitor for Bonnes.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented for the accused to be sent forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
Bonnes is charged with assaulting Garda Kenneth Merritt and causing him harm by spitting blood in his face at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. Bonnes is also charged with assaulting Garda Merritt by head-butting him and causing him harm.
Bonnes faces a further charge of assault causing harm to a woman by punching her in the face at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning Bonnes for trial, administered the alibi warning and made a section 56 order relating to videos of interviews.
