Martin Hegarty has been nominated to put his name forward to the Fianna Fáil selection convention in the Donegal electoral area.
Martin was chosen at the Fianna Fáil Kilcar Cumann meeting last weekend as they prepare for the 2024 local elections this summer.
Speaking following his nomination, Martin said he was honoured to be selected by the Cumann and that he had a keen interest in politics and hoped to be a voice for his locality and community.
Martin is the residential services manager at Carrick sheltered housing, an avid GAA fan and former player, and member of St Carthas pipe band. He is also the vice Chairperson of Comhairle Paroiste Cill Chartha and a member of the Board of Management of Scoil Cartha Naofa.
The Cumann meeting had a strong attendance from the local community in the Kilcar area, and from former Tánaiste and Fianna Fáil County Executive Chairperson Mary Coughlan.
