Finn Harps got back to winning ways after beating Wexford with s late, late goal from Dave Cawley in the 88th minute.
Harps were looking to bounce back from last week’s disappointing display against Cobh Ramblers which saw them lose for the first time this season.
Harps found themselves 1-0 behind after just 12 minutes when Cian o’Malley got onto the end of a Mikie Rowe cross.
Indeed they could have been further behind had Rowe’s earlier effort no come back off the Harps upright.
The impressive Rowe could have had a hat-trick in the opening half when another opportunity saw him hit the Harps side-netting.
But Harps boss Darren Murphy will tell you that you ride your luck and you keep going.
Conor Tourish might have done better when a glancing header from a sweet Tony McNamee cross went wide.
Darren Murphy made what proved to be an inspired substitution when he brought on Patrick Ferry at the break.
The Goath Dobhair man levelled matters when he latched onto a long ball over the top for him to tuck under the advancing Wexford ‘keeper Owen Mason.
Harps began to control matters and pushed for a winner but as the clock ticked down it looked like the might have to settle for a share of the spoils.
But former Sligo Rovers captain repaid some of the faith shown in him by his new manager when he grabbed the winner in the 88th minute.
There was a slight element of luck to it as Cawley’s close range shot was deflected into the Wexford net to make it 2-1 for the visitors.
Wexford may have felt a little hard done by but the long journey home to Donegal will be a little shorter with a few games of cards and three valuable points in the bag.
