A man has appeared in court charged with being in possession of almost €4,000 worth of drugs and five counts of drug-driving in Donegal.
Michael Harkin was before Letterkenny District Court in connection with drugs finds on dates in 2021 and 2022.
The 31-year-old, with an address at Radharc na Ghleann, Ardara, will learn his fate in June after Judge Ciaran Liddy sought a probation report.
Harkin was found in possession of cannabis worth €560 at Radharc na Ghleann, Ardara on October 3, 2022.
Harkin made full admissions and said the drugs were for his own personal use.
On May 25, 2021, gardai seized cannabis to the value of €2,318 from a property at Ard Crannagh, Letterkenny. Harkin was charged with the possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying others as well as possession of the drug.
Sergeant Jim Collins said Harkin, who was said to be ‘fully co-operative’ made full admissions.
Harkin was also charged with being in possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying others after €1,072 worth of cannabis was found in a vehicle on the R250 at Rashedog, Newmills on May 24, 2021.
In total, the value of the drugs was €3,950.
Harkin also faces drug-driving charges relating to incidents on November 14, 2020, March 31, 2021, April 28, 2021, May 24, 2021 and May 28, 2021.
When Harkin appeared before Thursday’s court sitting, Ms Donna Crampsie, solicitor for Harkin, asked Judge Liddy to seek a probation and welfare report.
After being told that such a report could take six weeks, Judge Liddy adjourned the case for finalisation on June 18, 2024.
